Carter Liu Flirts with Perfection in 5-2 win over Sage Hill

Carter Liu struck out 11 batters to lead the Northwood Varsity Timberwolves past Sage Hill Varsity Lightning 5-2 on Thursday. Liu gave up two hits and two runs over seven innings while walking none, carrying a perfect game through 6 innings. 
 

Northwood Varsity Timberwolves got on the board in the top of the first inning after Colin Carlson grounded out, and Liu doubled, each scoring one run.  A sacrifice fly by Caleb Huh extended the Northwood Varsity Timberwolves lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.


Northwood Varsity Timberwolves tallied 11 hits in the game. Paul Grossman, Liu, Andres Hernandez, and Jordan Kim each collected two hits for Northwood Varsity Timberwolves. Luke Hansen went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in.  Paul Grossman added two stolen bases.

 

Cruz Collier took the loss for Sage Hill Varsity Lightning. The starting pitcher went five innings, surrendering five runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking five.
