The Northwood Timberwolves lost to the Pacific Coast League (PCL) leading Beckman Patriots 8 to 1. The T’Wolves dropped to 5 and 8 in the PCL and 15 and 9 for the season.
Beckman Out to an Early Lead
In the1st inning, Beckman scored four runs on six hits. Again in the 4th inning, the Patriots collected another four runs on four hits giving the Patriots an 8 to 0 lead after four innings. Northwood relievers Nathan Ng, Arthur Liu and Tyler Model then held the Patriots in check for the last three innings giving up three hits.
Northwood could not get anything going at the plate. Patriot starter Trevor Ernt breezed through his four innings of pitching, only giving up a single to Ely Stuart in the 4th inning. Three Beckman relievers gave up one run on three Northwood hits over the last three innings.
The T’Wolves only run came in the 6th inning when Ryan Rodriguez led off with a single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a fielder choice, and scored on a second fielder choice. The only two other Northwood hits came from Trevor Littlejohn and Carl Espe.
Northwood will play Irvine twice next week. The T’Wolves will host Irvine on Senior Recognition Day next Tuesday May 8, 2018 at 3:30 PM. And, then travel to Irvine Thursday May 10, 2018 at 3:30 PM, closing out PCL play.
