Northwood's baseball team won two games Thursday at the South Bay Classic in San Pedro to capture the consolation championship of the tournament.

In the second game, Northwood defeated Westchester, 11-4.

Jon Model pitched well for five innings to record his fifth win of the season, according to Coach Rob Stuart.

Adam Hoang finished the game with two scoreless innings.

Justin Gisch was 4-for-4 with two doubles and a two-run home run. Aaron Globerson and Kevin Locklear added two hits each for Northwood (11-7).

Several Major League scouts were on hand to watch a talented Westchester squad.

But Gisch, who last week signed with Santa Clara, turned out to be the star of the day.

"Gisch was a man amongst boys today, going 4 for 4 with a homer and a couple of doubles. Just a career day," Stuart said.

Alex King added a home run for Northwood.

"That ball King hit was a no doubter," Stuart said. "Jon Model did his thing which is compete and never give in. It was real nice to see senior Adam Hoang pitch well this tournament. He gave us a great effort."

In the first game, Northwood defeated Cerritos, 11-0, in a game called after five innings because of the mercy rule.

Gisch had three RBI on two doubles. Saagar Seth had two RBI and Jack Pabich earned his first varsity victory striking out three while allowing no runs on three hits.

"Jack threw the ball with a lot of confidence," Stuart said. "I don't think he threw a ball in the first inning. Alex King, Justin Gisch and Ojo Weiss all swung the bats with authority."
