Coach Ara Petrosian attended Fountain Valley HS, Cypress College and Long Beach State. He saved 15 games for the 49ers in 1997 and was voted onto the D1 All-American Team by Collegiate Baseball (along with Lance Berkman, Adam Kennedy, JD Drew, Pat Burrell and Tim Hudson). He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 18th round of the 1997 major league draft, then pitched two years for Colorado and Oakland in the minor leagues. He was the head coach of Santiago High School from 2004-06.

2013 was Coach Petrosian's first year with the Timberwolves.
